Understanding (Im)Possibilities

Understanding (Im)Possibilities

This project is about exploring the possibilities of immersive technology and building a foundation to incorporate this into my performance practice.

Understanding the (Im)possible will see me consider and ways of incorporating immersive technologies in my practice for the first time, including learning about responsive environments, spatial computing, and binaural sound. The project will support me to think about the ways immersive technology can support audiences to experience something collective rather than individual.

Through a process of research, collaboration, and experimentation the project will consider the creation of gig-theatre work which combines multimedia, theatre, and live-music, using immersive technologies might allow us to feel transported, create something transcendental, and consider how we might create euphoric and/or spiritual feelings in audiences without the need for alcohol/stimulants.

Aims of the Project

Gain an understanding of what is currently possibly with immersive technologies and understand ways they are being used creatively, building up a foundation of knowledge upon which I can develop.

Research with existing collaborators to consider how these might be integrated into my practice.

Discover and work with practitioners already developing immersive technology to understand their practices and potentially identify new collaborators.
