A dive into an ethereal interactive audio-visual world.
'swarm' is an immersive audio-visual exploration of the subconscious, blending digital dreamscapes, motion-captured performance, and ethereal sound to evoke a meditative, otherworldly experience.
Using binaural sound compositions, and digital world building to create a hazy dream space where selfhood and the unconscious converge. A testing ground project, in which explorations of this virtual world will be enabled through VR.
This fund will allow me to develop my practice as an audio visual artist, exploring new softwares that build on my current skillset, but allow me to dive more into the realm of immersive art. I want to go in depth with Unreal Engine, and explore ways of world building; embedding character choreography and interactive sound-scaping to evolve the world.
Part of this project would include a short research trip to Liverpool to see exhibitions at FACT and Tate that would help with research and development of this project.
The majority of this project will be spent on building my skills in UE ( a fairly new software to me as a Blender native), learning how to use game-scapes as staging for audio-visual work, especially within the context of VR.
I want to experiment with choreography and character rigging (using iClone), and also to explore sound compositions to embed within the digital environment in UE.
Having experimented with embedding binaural sounds in UE I am eager to lean into my own musical background and my collaborators to learn new ways of composing when in the context of an immersive environment.

Aims of the Project
In my recent works, I employ CGI and game-like frameworks as tools for introspective exploration, merging the language of gaming with the quietness of meditation.
My goal for this project is to develop this language, experimenting with VR to consider more interactive methods of composing an audio-visual work, and how to play to the strengths of this immersive technology to submerge viewers into an alternate reality.
By gaining access to more softwares and technology, I will be able to evolve my practice into new territories , with the introduction of VR being an exciting new facet. The chance to work with a collaborator to explore choreography and composition will add to the fluidity of the immersive experience, something I am very excited to develop and forge a new identity to my work.
I strongly believe that the trajectory of my practice is leading into immersive arts, so am confident that this opportunity will greatly help me grow my practice, and to reach new audiences. The additional support from the Immersive Arts Producers will be invaluable in terms of building a network in this field, and to learn how to further evolve my work with immersive arts.
