Immersive Arts Funding Update

Snow-dusted path beside a calm river reflecting bare trees under a clear sky. A whimsical, cartoon-like face peers from the top right corner, adding a playful touch.

In October 2025, we closed the final open call for Immersive Arts, inviting artists to apply for Explore (£5,000), Experiment (£20,000) or Expand (£50,000) funding to develop their work using immersive technologies.

Thank you to everyone who applied, sharing your incredible ideas and inspiring creative practice with us. Over the last two open calls we have received over 5000 applications from artists across the UK. Ideas have spanned multiple artforms, drawing upon a broad range of themes and making use of a wide range of immersive technologies.

Our team of reviewers have been carefully considering each of the applications and we plan to notify all successful and unsuccessful applicants by Friday 30 January 2026. With the exception of Expand applicants who received a notification in November on whether they were invited to a stage 2 interview.

If you have not received an email by this date, please:

We are looking forward to funding approximately 140 artists and projects this round, and offering a rich programme of events, research and resources across the year to support the wider community.

We would like to take a moment to appreciate all of the incredible artists and ideas that we will sadly not be able to fund in this round. We recognise the time, care, and effort that goes into submitting a proposal, and are grateful for every application that we have received. Whilst we will not be able to offer individual feedback, we will shortly be publishing a commentary, similar to one shared following the last round of funding. This commentary will bring together insights from assessors, sharing trends we noticed across the submissions, and offering detailed feedback across all three tiers of funding in support the future success of those who may not have been progressed on this occasion.

We will work with funded artists to share details of their projects via the Immersive Arts website, and a full list of awards will be made available in the Spring.
