Cognitive Realities: Merging Neuroscience & Immersive Art
Cognitive Realities: Merging Neuroscience & Immersive Art
I create immersive art exploring neuro aesthetics, unseen disabilities, and well-being. Using VR, XR, and AR, I want to investigate how digital spaces impact cognition, emotion, and identity, aiming to deepen engagement and understanding.
I am working at the intersection of art, technology, and Neuroaesthetics, exploring themes of identity, perception, and memory through the immersive mediums of VR, AR, and XR. My work includes Submerged, a 360-degree hand-painted VR experience, and Luds Church, an immersive exploration of a local rock chasm.
I used immersive technologies in community projects such as the Teggs Nose AR Trail for the charity Space4autism and the Men’s Room project, where they designed Pride T-shirts using VR. I deliver art sessions to adults at Space4autism and have worked full-time teaching older children with autism, gaining deep insights into how self-expression and art benefit neurodivergent individuals.
My research focuses on how immersive art impacts the brain, fostering emotional connection, self-discovery, and well-being. Eager to expand my technical skills, particularly in Unity and Unreal Engine, I aim to push the boundaries and create innovative, multi-sensory work that resonates deeply with diverse audiences.

£5000
Aims of the project
With £5,000, I will explore immersive technologies like XR, VR, and AR to expand my creative practice in neuro aesthetics.
This funding will allow me to acquire essential equipment and software, participate in workshops, and develop skills in platforms like Unity and Unreal Engine to create interactive, multi-sensory environments.
I will engage with immersive artworks for first hand inspiration, collaborate with neuroscientists to understand how immersive art affects the brain, and explore ways to promote mental well-being. Training in video editing will enhance my ability to craft compelling visual narratives, ensuring seamless and emotionally resonant experiences.
Networking with technologists and artists will open opportunities for collaboration and innovation. Prototyping immersive experiences will allow me to investigate how XR enhances self-discovery and well-being through neuro aesthetics.
This project will be a transformative step in my practice, merging art, science, and technology to create pioneering work that captivates and deeply resonates with audiences.
