Immersive Tools & Technologies
Immersive Tools & Technologies
You can’t do immersive art without immersive tools and technologies! This research strand is looking into the things that make it possible to engage multiple senses, bridge the gap between physical and digital spaces, connect people to each other and the environment and change the way we think and create!
The team looking into this is Kirsten Cater (Professor of Human Computer Interaction, University of Bristol), and Tom Abba (Associate Professor of Art & Design, UWE Bristol).

Immersive Tools & Technologies
Thinking about the immersive tools and technologies that make immersive art possible, the team is exploring what artists need to know to work confidently and creatively with immersive forms;
- the perceived technical and skills barriers;
- the resources that exist to support creative and technical literacy for XR;
- the ways that artists might work convergently with XR and other tools such as Artificial Intelligence to produce immersive experiences;
- and how sensing and interpretive tools and technologies enable better understanding of user experience and create personalised XR Experiences.
