MA

MA

This project, titled MA, is derived from the ancient Japanese concept meaning “the space between things.” It explores the space between immersive technologies and my artistic practice, a space that currently holds both unresolved tension and significant potential.

MA is a research-led project exploring the space between immersive technologies and artistic practice. Drawing on the Japanese concept of “the space between things,” the project investigates how tools such as augmented and immersive media can be integrated into large-scale, community-led street art. Rooted in Northern Ireland’s cultural landscape, MA seeks to amplify the voices and experiences of the post-Good Friday Agreement generation through new forms of storytelling.
Through a combination of research, collaboration, and experimentation, the project will engage with industry experts, visit innovative studios, and develop proof-of-concept artworks. This process will explore how immersive technologies can deepen audience engagement, enhance accessibility, and create more layered, multi-sensory public art experiences. Ultimately, MA aims to expand the possibilities of socially engaged practice by bridging physical and digital spaces.
