Beyond the Beams
Beyond the Beams
I plan to combine an older interactive technology (Soundbeam 2 - a distance to MIDI converter from the early 1990s), with a very new one (Resolume - software which manipulates live video in real time) to create an immersive environment that can be explored and controlled by anyone.

Aims of the project
I plan to create controllable spaces made of animated things (pattern, shape, colour etc) and have them explored by people.
Waving an arm, walking around, moving a wheelchair back and forth, or even just waggling a finger could be used to control the pitch of a sound or the colour of a box or create different patterns on the wall or the shape of videos on a number of surfaces.
I’m keen to see how people with restricted movement and people with learning difference might respond to the space. It could be entirely non-tactile and tailored to fit in with anyone’s sensory limits.
