Exploring Unity for narrative-driven MR
Exploring Unity for narrative-driven MR
Transmitting the emotion of holding an object of personal significance by combining the physical sensations of handling it, with oral history, narratives, memories and associations, sounds and moving image overlays.
Can immersive technology be used to transmit the emotion of holding an object of personal significance by combining the physical sensations of handling it, with oral history, narratives, memories and associations, sounds and moving image overlays and triggers that contextualise said object for the user?

"I will use my grant for time to build on my limited knowledge of Unity and to explore its MR possibilities."
Aims of the project
This will be done through a scheduled self-guided period of study using Unity’s free personal pricing plan, training courses, and e-books e.g. ‘Create virtual and mixed reality experiences in Unity’.
I will also spend time building on my experience using Blender to create digital assets, and to test and trial how these can be integrated in a mixed reality environment in Unity. The project I have in mind, which I would use as a guide, would be a table of objects with MR overlays that when picked up by the user can change shape, animate and tell a story through audio and video.
