Built Bodies (Inside)

Built Bodies (Inside)

Built Bodies (Inside) is an exploratory project, building up to an immersive installation about queer, regenerative futures.

Built Bodies (Inside) is an exploratory project, building up to an immersive installation about queer, regenerative futures. This first stage of the project will document play with immersive technologies, technical skills development, and immersive arts research. In preparation for Built Bodies (Inside), I developed a prototype of how speculative fiction and geographical information systems might interact in an immersive installation. This project expands on my prototype, envisaging an immersive installation where participants influence the direction of the artwork.

At its core, Built Bodies (Inside) is about kinship and the commons. The narrative is not locked: participant interaction with more-than-human kin and the built environment changes pathways toward just, diverse, and regenerative futures. Speculative fiction and immersive design meet on the inside of this imaginary, to envision the future-tense flourishing of queer bodies.

Aims of the Project

This funding will support my first-time exploration of immersive technologies; support basic technical skills development through software, tools, and training acquisition; and fund time to plan and research technologies for my project.

This supports my vision for an immersive installation for green, queer futures.
