Between Dimensions.

Between Dimensions.

An immersive artwork that uses game engine physics and VR/MR to simulate the experience of moving beyond the three dimensions we know.

Between Dimensions is an XR experiment exploring what it might feel like to move beyond the three dimensions we normally experience. I’m researching ideas from higher-dimensional mathematics and string theory, including shapes like the tesseract, a four-dimensional cube to understand how extra dimensions are described and how they might be sensed rather than simply explained.

Audiences climb a metaphorical ladder, each stage transforming the sensory environment to evoke 4D, 5D, 6D and beyond, drawing inspiration from string theory.

This project will test how immersive technologies can help audiences not just imagine, but actively experience higher-dimensional realities.

Aims of the project

I will create and test interactive prototypes using real-time physics, sound and haptics to see how space can be distorted, layered or expanded. The aim is to explore whether immersive experiences can help people feel and intuitively grasp what it might mean for reality to extend beyond three dimensions.

Through testing with different groups, I will refine both the technical approach and the clarity of the experience, shaping how these ideas can be translated into something tangible and shared.
