Creating responsive art and space

Creating responsive art and space

A six-month development project, learning how to program using Arduino and Raspberry Pi and different components, to make something experimental.

I would like to learn about different interactive systems that respond to touch, gesture and presence. This project explores how technology can make memory tactile, transforming archival images and sound into responsive environments shaped by human interaction. In this six month project I will be mentored by Indira Lakshmi, a multi-disciplinary artist born in Coventry, UK.

Aims of the project

I am developing new technical skills to create responsive objects and immersive environments that react to touch, gesture and proximity. Rooted in my practice exploring heritage, memory and belonging, particularly through my South Asian background and family archive.

This development phase will expand my ability to create multi-sensory experiences that deepen engagement with archival photography, sound and intergenerational storytelling. It also lays the groundwork for future collaboration and workshop development as part of a more sustainable, technology enabled practice.
