HARVEST
HARVEST is a dark comedy Virtual Reality artwork, exploring surveillance capitalism, told through the eyes of a robot vacuum.
Through a razor-sharp script, this gripping family narrative will explore the disquieting undercurrent that pervades modern lives as we hand over our data into the hands of the small - and therefore the big - machines. In the story, a robotic vacuum is gifted to a family; at first there is excitement about this shiny, time-saving toy and it becomes a part of their home life. However, their delight gives way to unease about the intrusion upon their privacy and the realisation that they are being watched.
We will use this grant opportunity to create and audience test a prototype for HARVEST, and to use our findings to help raise funding for the final production.

Meriko brings 2 decades of experience at Apple creating some of the most innovative technologies of the last 25 years – including the iPhone cameras. meriko is particularly proud of ScanLAB’s seminal work defining the art of photography and cinema in three and four dimensions.

James is a designer rooted in architectural training and is involved in all facets of ScanLAB’s work including visual effects, compositing, UI/UX design and real time experiences.
