Silent Soil
Awaken your senses to the secrets that lie within the soil beneath our feet.
Silent soil is an immersive, sonic exploration of how our human presence and activity impacts the soil ecosystems beneath our feet.
The sounds hidden in the soil beneath us are rarely brought to the surface, from the rhythmic rasping of worms and the popping clicks of larvae breaking apart root fibres the earth is alive with sounds usually inaudible to the human ear.

Aims of the project
Silent Soil explores capturing these hidden sounds within our soil ecosystems, developing multisensory ways an audience can interact with these habitats in an urban setting.
Through experimentation with environmental sensors and interactive sound, Silent Soil questions our own impact on the delicate ecosystems that inhabit the earth beneath us. Highlighting the importance of soil health and biodiversity for the security of our ecological future.
