All Cats are Muslim
All Cats are Muslim
An evening's prowl with a clowder of cats through the back alleyways of Bradford.
All Cats Are Muslim is a site-specific immersive performance in the back alleys of Manningham (inner-city Bradford),co-created with long-standing Muslim, new migrant and refugee communities. Using RFID triggers, ambisonic soundscapes, AR and projection mapping, audiences embody cats navigating alleys, shops and backyards to confront rats born of human waste.
Experiment
£20,000
The work explores sustainability, migration and belonging, leaving digital tools and skills rooted in the community.
Aims of the project
We want to test how hidden technologies (RFID, ambisonic sound) can create intimate, magical storytelling, making streets feel alive with whispers, scratches and cat gossip.
In contrast, visible projection mapping and AR will provide communal spectacle, transforming walls and yards into living canvases animated with cats, rats and neighbourhood voices.
