The Bees – Mixed Reality Adaptation
Experimenting with mixed reality storytelling in an adaptation of Laline Paull's bestselling novel, The Bees.
We are developing a mixed reality adaptation of Laline Paull's novel The Bees, which follows the lifespan of one worker bee who breaks the rules of her authoritarian environment and saves the hive as a result. There are four moments in our piece where Flora leaves the hive and flies independently.
The audience will experience these moments in virtual reality, effectively becoming Flora and having a limited amount of control over their own journeys. This grant allows us to create a simple prototype for a single flight, exploring and testing how one single narrative delivered by one performer, can combine with virtual reality.
