UN/VEIL

UN/VEIL

UN/VEIL is an immersive audiovisual installation that explores human choir, quantum, and spatial audio in a 360-degree dome, inviting audiences to transform the work using their voices as they explore themes of liberation and belonging through collective resonance.

Exploring liberation, belonging, and collective resonance. A major project for London Contemporary Voices’ 15th anniversary, UN/VEIL is rooted in the idea of deep listening as a catalyst for change and explores how marginalised voices can reclaim space and belonging.

Open to the general public at Plymouth Market Hall’s 360 dome across 4 days, it integrates human voice, ethical AI, quantum and spatial audio with live audience voices, transforming them into evolving choral soundscapes and Responsive 360 visuals.

Aims of the project

Vocalisations from London Contemporary Voices’ and Trans Voices’ diverse community of professional singers will form a collaborative choral composition which will be used to train a Quantum system in partnership with MOTH.

The system generates a continuous live ever-evolving piece in real time. The same recordings will also be used to train ethical AI tone transfer models in collaboration with Neutone which transform visitors’ voices into the choir’s voices. Each visitor’s pathway through the installation shapes what is heard. They encounter voices shifting, echoing, and weaving around them, creating a moving, deeply personal and evolving sonic and visual environment. ensuring every encounter is unique.
