Immersive Ancient Performance Venue Experience

Reconstruction of an ancient performance venue using immersive arts.

Through this funding, we aim to explore the virtual reconstruction of an ancient performance venue from an ancient text and understand its architectural, cultural, and sensory dimensions, using immersive technology (VR / 360° video + spatial audio).

This project is led by Aarathy Arun - musician and dancer, tutor, choreographer, artistic director and director of Deekshaa CIC & Aarathy Arun Global Arts. She has an experience of 35 years in Indian classical music and dance (learning, practising, performing and, a teaching experience of 12 years). She serves as Indian Arts Leader at OVAL, a diverse arts consortium in Birmingham, which was initially funded by Birmingham City Council (2019-2021). She was the winner of 'WOW Award 2025 for Cultural Impact' by Kaushalya UK. She was selected as the stage 1 cohort of 'Create Growth Programme West Midlands' by Creative UK in partnership with West Midlands Combined Authority, funded by DCMS.gov.uk.
