Pattern and Place
Encountering pattern and ornament at heritage sites using immersive technologies.
Pattern and Place is a research project that connects pattern languages, from floral symmetry to decorative details in buildings, with responsive digital media. With support from a creative coder, I will develop and trial ways to present pattern, using projection mapping and augmented reality, that respond to location and recognised objects in the environment.

Aims of the project
The aim is to explore how drawn pattern systems can be translated into generative visuals that shift in real time, rather than staying fixed on a page or a wall.
Alongside the technical development, I will consider how these experiences can encourage shared looking and conversation in heritage settings. The outcome will be a working prototype and a practical approach that can be adapted for different sites, audiences, and future projects.
